| Each ring symbolically captures the heritage of North Carolina State University. On one side, the Alumni Memorial Belltower is supported by 19 bricks, representing the first graduating class. The North Carolina motto, "Esse Quam Vederi" (to be rather than to seem), reminds us of our role as a land-grant institution. On the other side, the open doors of Holladay Hall welcome new students and returning alumni. A proud pack of wolves lunge in front of the university mace and across 21 bricks, symbolizing the size of the university's first class. The Block "S" sits atop the traditional style and signet rings, surrounded by the name and founding date of the university.

|  | | Students wear the ring with the school name facing them. Upon the granting of degrees at Commencement, graduates turn the ring around, with the name facing outward. This symbolizes that the graduate is now ready to face the world. Wear the ring and carry a symbol of your commitment to our alma mater. |
